3D Environment W.I.P. 02 by steve-burg 3D Environment W.I.P. 02 by steve-burg
This is a detail of a large 3D environment. It is one of many test renders done to evaluate the progress.

Some day this will actually be finished :D

But until then, I will post some of the "in progress" images

WiP it may be, but it's still a fantastic design; incredibly detailed and very moody.

The whole piece is really amazing, but that water is exceptionally well done. Nice work!

Thanks! The water is just a fresnel shader on a more or less flat mesh (with some very slight displacement. A lot of testing to get the falloff on the reflection to work well - I am glad you like the result :)

You know what I like about this one most? It shows that repetition done right is not repetitious.

Thanks! I'm a big fan of repetition - or maybe "modular design". I feel it can help show perspective, to see a series of the same forms going into the distance. Plus it's ideal for digital modeling, where you can get one small piece the way you want it and then repeat it to cover a large surface :D

This, and the conversation you were having with someone about Daz Studio actually inspired me to do this tonight:

It was done in Daz Studio 3 Advanced.

Sweet, in a rugged industrial kind of way.

Astounding. It certainly makes me and my lil' DAZ Studio feel tremendously humble. Kinda reminds me of playing along the banks of the aggressively polluted Nashua River by the old , abandoned mills in the late 60's/early 70's before the Clean Water Act.

I've actually been playing with DAZ Studio a little bit - it's a great software, easily as good as Poser). You do great stuff with it!
I actually very much like the bright optimistic feel of your artworks (I seem to gravitate toward industrial sludge and radioactive toxic filth when left unsupervised) :D

Hey, I do filth too!!!! :nana:

I'm not sure if you've been keeping up on postings since you went paid-AWOL, but I've probably loaded up near 100 images since you left - some new, some old, some VERY old ;)
