I had a question though! You say you painted the texture on. So does that mean you rendered the image out, say all in grey, and then just paint all the color in on photoshop? Or did you UV map it and render everything out in lightwave?
Hope I can hear back, cause I'd really like to get back into this!

the the lighting is great and the sky turned out really nice! you can feel the windy breeze
But the birds don't seem to mind
yeah i get the need of the spherical map. im working as a texture and modeling artist right now. i gotta try out some shading and maybe do something like this as well. really great stuff!
I was making all the sky textures for this game - and so I tried to get a head start on that while doing the designs - kind of "double duty".
Skies are fun - but a lot of work. But I think the sky is the most important texture in a level - it fills half the screen the whole time, and sets the lighting and mood. So I put in a lot of work on those. I might actually post some of them - the textures. The're kind of cool, even though they look weird with the spherical distortion
