Thanks! I had to look up de Chirico - I wasn't familiar with his paintings. Definitely an interesting comparison - I guess it is somewhat surrealist I'm glad you like this - I kind of want to pursue this direction some more in future paintings, it was great fun to indicate the distant structures (whatever they are)
Makes me think of the scene in Hitchhikers Guide where they discover an ancient space-liner filled in a cavernous hangar area. Its passengers having been in hiber-sleep, during a flight delay lasting hundreds of years.
I remember that quite well! "Please pardon the inconvenience. The lemon scented napkins have not arrived, and departure has been delayed. For your convenience, the ship has been placed in time stasis..."
It was really hard to decide whether to favor this or "Convoy", but finally I decided for this one, because with the people as a size comparison, and the city (?) skyline in the distance it gives me a more complete impression. I've read that you are inspired by the old book covers, and the "Convoy" scene would do at least as well there, but for me, this one is my favorite
