The Coming Stormby *steve-burg

This 3D illustration was produced for the book "Concept Design II". It is another view of the large off-world refinery complex also shown in the piece "Evacuate the Colony" [link]

The other images in this sequence are "Origin: Unknown" [link] "Sphinx" [link]

With a storm descending, workers and military personnel race against time to secure the complex and get everyone on board a shuttle.

The heavy duty industrial vehicles have been pressed into service for the effort. The one featured here is a freight loading truck, sort of a futuristic forklift.

All the 3D elements were modeled and rendered in Lightwave 3D, with textures painted in Photoshop. The various render passes were then combined in Photoshop, and some painting was done to blend everything together.
