The Frozen City by steve-burg The Frozen City by steve-burg
I wanted to paint explorers entering an abandoned sci fi city somewhere underground.

I'm not sure if I got it or not :)! But time's up!

I can't figure out how you make that sharp and iridescencent-looking texture.

This is pic is really odd and crazy !! It's looks a bit creepy and chaotic, but the colours are beautiful !! I like how you focus the (fex) light on the men, while all the rest is in the gloom of abandon^^

Thanks - it is creepy and chaotic! I think maybe my mind was in a chaotic state when I was working on this one :)

Thanks! Some of them are definitely more (or less!)successful than others, but I'm going to keep hammering away at it :D

Interesting and surreal. Has an almost abstract feeling to it that works... but that's what speed painting's all about... hitting a concept and riding that sucker to the bailout point. I really have to learn this! ;)

I know the feeling :D!

It's fun, but you never know what you're going to get - you just have to roll with it until you come up with something, crash and burn, or run out of time :D

All too familiar with the crash and burn... going for the run out of time though. :eager:

Interesting, odd effects but real cool, i am not an art major or anything but i think its a bit cluttered in cretin points its kinda hard to tell whats going on but i think that's a strong point to this work because it makes the eye wander.

It really is a bit chaotic and a little hard to tell what everything is. That seems to be a side effect of this approach I'm trying at the moment - it's sometimes difficult to control the outcome :). Probably this is really a "sketch" or a "study" for something more deliberate - if I can find the time to do the final :D!
