Under the Ring by steve-burg Under the Ring by steve-burg
This is yet another space scene. A fleet of large carriers passes close by a ringed planet - which might be Saturn, but perhaps not :)

I find it relaxing somehow, to play around with compositions such as this one.

It is a "collage" made up of 3D elements created in Lightwave and Modo and composited in Photoshop.

Hmmm, I'm getting a lot of ideas from this single picture you have created. From now on when building ships, I will be thinking as if I were making a futuristic buildings that are long and flat.

I agree with you on this. It's a peaceful looking scene.

I don't think of them as wings for aerodynamics - but it's nice to add shapes like that to make the design more interesting

***The spacecrafts have good design, and the planet are well done. Now,I guess that the ring planet isnīt Saturn, because the colors arenīt the same that anyone can see at NASA photos. :hmm:

Wow! I'm glad your PC survived! That's always a danger - fortunately we don't have too many storms like that where I live, but if it looks like lightning, sometimes I turn off my computer

Probably not Saturn... too much detail in the clouds. Saturn's cloud cover is almost featureless.

Nice ships, and interesting desaturated colors.

I think it's some as yet undiscovered exo-planet. We haven't found one with rings like that... yet :D

:iconariochiv:
AriochIV Featured By Owner Feb 2, 2012   Digital Artist
Well, most of our exoplanet detection methods wouldn't detect the rings, so we wouldn't know if we had discovered such a planet. But since all four of the gas giants in our system have rings of some kind, it's not unreasonable to infer that rings are common. ;)
